More City than Water is a collaborative project between UH Graphic Design students and
Rice University Professor Lacy Johnson to create a post Hurricane Harvey Atlas. Expressive
and informative maps were designed to narrate essay contributions by climate scholars,
environmentalists, housing activists, architects, urban planners, and poets. Funded through
a Public Humanities grant. Map excerpt: Harvey Alerts describes how a Houston resident starts getting emails about her apartment flooding while she’s escaping the storm in Austin.
